Eating is probably one of man’s favorite hobbies right now. With all these various foods from different places all over the world, who would not want to taste them all and discover the different delicacies the world could offer?

What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)?
IBS is a general term to describe the spastic condition of the colon of a person. IBS has actually no known organic cause but usually, constipation and diarrhea would herald this event.
What are the clinical manifestations of IBS?
The common manifestation of IBS is chronic abdominal pain. By saying chronic, it means that the abdominal pain would usually last for more than two weeks.

Other manifestations of IBS would be diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort, bloating and alteration of bowel habits.

What causes Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
As what was mentioned above, they have no known exact organic cause that could predispose a person to have IBS.
But according to researches, active infection could probably put a person at risk in developing IBS in the near future.
The infection could have come from a bacteria or virus that was ingested with the food that was not properly cooked or not properly prepared well.
But even if the food is safe to eat, there are ingredients in the food that could be irritable to a person’s colon that could also herald this disease.
Therefore, it is very important that one must be careful on the different type of food he or she eats.
Can IBS be treated?
It is sad to say that IBS could produce lifelong complications thus in the present, the treatment of IBS is still on research.
So far, the best thing that a person could do is to manage the symptoms and that is to take medications that would relieve the abdominal pain and normalize the bowel movements of a person.
